Abstract
Following [Boelcskei,Borgman,Paulraj 2004] the code design for space frequency codes can be separated into the design of space time block codes with large block lengths and an appropriate transition matrix incorporating the multipath diversity. In this work we used this approach and provide explicit constructions for both parts of the design problem based on (spherical) sphere packings and recent results. A geometric analysis leads to a unified framework for both the known and unknown channel at the receiver side. Due to a lattice based approach and code composition techniques the design and decoding complexity remains moderate.
