- Medium Access Control in Wireless Ad-hoc Networks
Providing several advantages over cellular networks wireless ad hoc networks have inherently some fundamental technical challenges. To improve the performance of wireless ad hoc and mesh networks when designing, convenient power control, beamforming, media access control and routing algorithms have to be developed. These algorithms should take into account the node mobility, power constraints and QoS requirements as delay and data rate. A significant objective in network design is to dynamically allocate the limited resources. One approach to develop a dynamic resource allocation strategy is to optimize a convenient network utility function. In doing so the main objective is to devise appropriate power control, beamforming, scheduling and routing strategies. Assuming a central network controller and using the centralized algorithms as indicator distributed algorithms can be derived.
